Larenz Bryant

The class of 2013 was filled with big names for the Gamecocks. Larenz Bryant was arguably the highlight of the class when he signed with South Carolina in February of 2013. Bryant was rated a 4-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite. He was ranked the number 7 outside linebacker in the class and the number 105 player overall. He committed to the Gamecocks over offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, and many others.

Bryant has seen playing time on the field since enrolling at South Carolina. Unfortunately, he has not quite had the impact that most expected him to have at this point in his career.

In 2013, Bryant had 7 tackles. Last season, he registered 3 tackles, including 1 sack against Kentucky. He also had a forced fumble against Kentucky. Not exactly earth shattering numbers, but quality game experience.

Bryant missed valuable practice time during the spring due to a liver injury. He has fully recovered, and seems to be the most likely to start at the SAM linebacker position. “Larenz has done well,” said USC co-defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward. “He’s flying around. He’s made some mistakes, but we all do. He’s just got be more consistent.”
