VIDEO: Steve Spurrier Jr. Gives Wide Receiver Update/Practice Recap

Today after practice Steve Spurrier Jr gave an update on how the receiving core is doing and how hard they are working.

Spurrier Jr says that Pharoh Cooper has a sprained hand but he’s fine now, a little limited, but works hard and is trying to become a better player than he was last year. He also says that the recievers are young and that many have never taken a snap but they are doing well and they should have three or five guys ready to go for the season. Also mentions that they aren’t going to be a team to run four recievers, but two or three preferably.

PRACTICE NOTES-AUGUST 7TH

-Cooper could play all three receiver spots this year. Redshirt freshman Deebo Samuel could play two as he has been working hard.

-D.J. Neal, Jalen Christian and Jerad Washington are doing well, along with Terry Googer and Carlton Heard at practice.

-Toure Boyd has been cleared to enroll at South Carolina. He had not arrived in time to practice on Friday, but is expected to be in Columbia by Saturday. He will have to have two days in helmet and shorts, then two days in shells, before he can practice in full pads like the rest of the team.

-Gamecocks will have practice at 8:30am on Saturday which will be open to the public.

-Gamecocks will be wearing pads for the first time this preseason on Saturday.
