Best thing about USC ?

” The best thing about USC is the environment and atmosphere around town. As well as being with my new teammates and working hard with them. ”

Who is your inspiration ? Why ?

” My biggest inspiration is my parents. They’ve never had much but always made sure that I have what I need to  be successful and I want to be able to help them out one day for all they have done. ”

What is your goal(s) for 2015 ?

” My goal for 2015 is to get stronger and faster. Being ineligible is going to be hard on me but I’m going to try to help the team in any way I can.”

What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment so far ?

” My greatest accomplishment so far was being named All American after my freshman season and becoming the first true freshman to start the opener at wake forest since 1987. Ended up starting 23 of 24 games and the only one I didn’t was senior night, which I came in the drive after the senior started. ”

How would you describe being a part of Gamecock Football and life at USC ?

” It feels special to be at South Carolina, and I feel determined as a Gamecock, I’m looking forward to many great memories and championships, I’m very Thankful! ”

As far as “pregame rituals” Cory has his on target,

“A few hours before the game I listen to country and classic rock as well as what’s “hot” at the time, then closer to game time I  listen to Rap music and ACDC, gets me hyped up and pray right before. In my time off, I enjoy lifting, I’m a total meat head ..lol but I also like to fish and go to the pool.”

“Determined as a Gamecock ” Helms shared this quote,

” There is always someone out there better than you, but that doesn’t mean you can’t work harder than them.”

It was a pleasure to get to chat with Cory and in my opinion his determination is almost indescribable, just a very positive and upbeat guy. Ready to see this Gamecock “play it forward ” in 2016 football season.
