Gamecocks vs. Aggies: Key Matchup
By Tradd Jones
The South Carolina Gamecocks and Texas A&M Aggies are meeting on the field for the first time as this brand new rivalry starts off with a bang. While it may not be as big a bang as it could have been had Manziel and Clowney stayed, it’s still a big stage. Season kickoff, SEC Network, prime time. So what stands out? What matchup is important?
I believe the key matchup will be the Gamecock receivers versus the Aggie corners.

Texas A&M will be shorthanded at corner. De’Vante Harris is out indefinitely with what is being called a “urinary tract injury” and there is no real time table on a return other than Kevin Sumlin saying Harris is still about a month away. Taking the spot of Harris is redshirt freshman Victor Davis, with a true freshman at safety behind him in Armani Watts.
In a big game with a big start needed, don’t be surprised if the Gamecocks take a shot or two deep down the field early against the Aggies’ young corner.
PredictionGamecock receivers will test early and often whatever side of the field Davis is on, and maybe rotate receivers to put across from him.
