While a number of defensive players for A&M have departed due to graduation (Steven Jenkins, Toney Hurd Jr.), been kicked off due to disciplinary issues (Darian Claiborne), or simply transferred (Gavin Stansbury), one of the constants is Matthews. The senior racked up 90 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, three picks and a forced fumble in 2013. He has gotten into a little off-field issues, though, but was kept on the team and will be counted on as one of the team’s top returnees on defense.
