Mike Davis has added another honor to his list.
The South Carolina Gamecocks junior running back, who may or may not be ready for next Thursday’s game against the Texas A&M Aggies (we’re leaning toward him being set), was named a first-team All-SEC player by the league’s coaches, the only Gamecocks player named to the first team.

Davis is hoping for big things in 2014 as he looks to rise on the draft boards of NFL front offices, pending a declaration for the draft after this season. The key thing to watch: injuries. He missed a couple practices in the beginning of preseason camp due to a hamstring issue and hasn’t practiced over the last few days due to a rib injury. Ideally, being their best player, the team obviously prefers him healthy, but he’s taken his lumps over the past year.
Other Gamecocks named all-conference: o-linemen A.J. Cann and Corey Robinson (second team offense); Pharoh Cooper (second team special teams); Brandon Shell and Cooper (third team offense); J.T. Surratt and Brison Williams (third team defense).
