The appeal of playing for the South Carolina Gamecocks and in the SEC was too much for La Grange (Ga.) running back Mon Denson to pass up.

In a ceremony at his high school today, Denson announced that he would play football for the Gamecocks, bringing the team’s number of commitments from the class of 2015 to an SEC East-high 25 and adding another piece to the top-five recruiting class.
Denson’s the second running back to pledge to the Gamecocks. A few weeks back, the team got a commitment from Centerville (Va.)’s A.J. Turner, ranked #33 among RBs in the Rivals.com rankings. Denson comes in at #40.
It was a move that was expected given the overall speed at which everything took place.
On Saturday, Denson partook in the Gamecock Showcase and departed with an offer. The next day, he tweeted out a top five which included the Gamecocks along with Arkansas, North Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
Carolina now has six players in the class of 2015 from the Peach State–the crown jewels of that particular group likely being Hapeville Charter DE Arden Key, Harrison QB Lorenzo Nunez, Stephenson wideout Dexter Neal and Clinch County DB Octavis Johnson, all ranked in the top 30 in the state.
