South Carolina football recruiting: Ga. RB Mon Denson has Gamecocks in top five

It didn’t take La Grange (Ga.) three-star running back Mon Denson to put the South Carolina Gamecocks in his top five after the team offered him at the Gamecock Showcase just this past weekend.

Denson is the #40 running back in the 2015 class according to Rivals.com, and the fact that the Gamecocks landed on his list that quickly bodes well as it would seem that they are the leader at this point.

Denson also plays defensive back at La Grange, but in college he’ll make the switch to running back and would join A.J. Turner, who committed to the Gamecocks a few weeks back. Turner is ranked #33 by Rivals.com at the position. The staff is hoping to shore up some depth at running back to prepare for the potential NFL Draft declaration of Mike Davis after this season, and Turner and Denson (if he commits as well) would work very much into that plan.

More to come soon, but Denson is definitely a target to keep an eye on within the coming weeks. Should he commit, he’d be the sixth player from the Peach State to do so.
