Spurrier Wants Fans To Look At Gamecock History

At his annual media golf outing, Steve Spurrier encouraged fans to look at the media guide and review South Carolina’s history.

So we did.

Spurrier noted that Gamecock football history “wasn’t really pretty,” but there’s no denying that it looks a lot better now.

A brief recap:

-Since Spurrier arrived in Columbia in 2005, South Carolina has set approximately 65 school records.

-Gamecocks have gone to eight bowl games in nine years after making 11 postseason appearances in the first 111 years of the program.

-South Carolina has been ranked in the top-25 for 52 consecutive games and in the top-20 for 43 straight games.

-Won 37 SEC games from 1992-2004, won 41 conference games since 2005.

-16 First Team All-Americans from 1954-2001, 6 since 2005

-Two National Freshmen of the Year, three SEC Freshmen of the Year
