By Sydney Hunte
In this day and age, it’s not unusual to see top rising sophomores offered by big-time college football programs. The wooing of coaches begins from early on (in some cases, even earlier) as they hope to get their hands on the next big prospect.

If the amount of attention Miami (Fla.) Gulliver Prep running back Robert Burns is any indication, they think that he’ll pan out to be a more than serviceable player. And now the South Carolina Gamecocks have extended an offer to the youngster, he announced on Twitter this afternoon.
Alabama, Clemson, Florida State and Ohio State are just a few of the programs that have offered Burns. He was a part of the annual Rivals100 Five Star Challenge earlier this year where he rubbed shoulders with other top recruits–and was only one of four rising sophomores to be invited. (The other three: Suwanee (Ga.) Peachtree Ridge ATH Deangelo Gibbs, safety Richard LeCounte from Liberty County (Ga.), and Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab/LSU verbal Dylan Moses. Gibbs and LeCounte, by the way, both hold offers from the Gamecocks as well.)
Burns currently stands as the ninth 2017 offer for South Carolina.
