South Carolina football recruiting: A.J. Turner to decide Thursday (UPDATED)

The South Carolina Gamecocks could be adding another piece to an already stacked 2015 recruiting class in a few days.

Clifton (Va.) Centreville running back A.J. Turner, a three-star recruit over at Rivals.com that is ranked the #33 RB in his class, is expected to announce his college decision Thursday. The Gamecocks, along with Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan State and a local choice–Virginia–are in his top five, although he has not chosen a frontrunner. However, 247Sports’ fourteen Crystal Ball predictions all have him headed to Columbia.

Turner is one of the athletes expected to be at The Opening at Nike’s world headquarters in Oregon this week. The annual event gathers the top 162 high school players in the country for a four day event that will be featured heavily on ESPN and the family of networks all week long. While there, he’s sure to be rubbing shoulders with some other big-time talent from across America while securing his own status as an elite recruit at the same time.
