South Carolina football recruiting: Three-star CB Jaire Alexander verbals
By Sydney Hunte
After holding a commitment to Charlotte, it didn’t take long for Rocky River (NC) three-star cornerback Jaire Alexander to bolt when SEC schools came calling.
Alexander announced today to Rivals.com that he would be committing to the South Carolina Gamecocks, becoming the 17th verbal commit for the class of 2015 and putting the Gamecocks at number five on the site’s recruiting ranking.
What stood out for South Carolina?
“There was a lot of ground being broken, there were a lot of new improvements like the new indoor practice facility and the two new outdoor practice fields,” he told Wes Mitchell over at The Big Spur.
Another key reason: OL coach Shawn Elliott, who recruited Alexander to come play in Columbia.
“He’s a guy that’s coached the best. He coached Patrick Peterson…He knows exactly what he’s doing, he knows what he’s talking about and he’s really straightforward. He’s real honest and that’s what I like. I don’t like any nonsense.”
The Gamecocks may be adding another recruit today: Florida three-star corner Damon Arnette will announce his decision tonight according to GoGamecocks.com. It’s widely believed that he will choose South Carolina.
