South Carolina Gamecocks Football Countdown: 75 Days

Our countdown to the 2014 college football season continues as just 75 days separate us from kickoff between the South Carolina Gamecocks and Texas A&M Aggies at Williams-Brice Stadium on August 28.

Who Wears #75?
Will Sport, standing at 6’5″ and weighing in at 301 pounds, wears jersey #75. He redshirted as a true freshman and has since played in 20 games. The Florida native ended last fall on the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll.

Coach: Jim Carlen in his first season
Big Win: Clemson

Jim Carlen had a good year in his first season with the Gamecocks, leading his team to wins against Georgia Tech, Duke, Baylor, Virginia, Mississippi and Wake Forest. They would then close their regular season hosting Clemson with a win of 56-20–the most points scored by Carolina in the rivalry. In the postseason, the Gamecocks went to the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando, Florida to play Miami, losing 20-7.

The movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest won the “big 5” Oscars: Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, and Writing.
“Love Will Keep Us Together” by Captain and Tennille was the #1 song.
