Our countdown to the 2014 college football season continues as just 93 days separate us from kickoff between the South Carolina Gamecocks and Texas A&M Aggies at Williams-Brice Stadium on August 28.
Who Wears #93?
Sophomore defensive tackle Deon Green wears jersey #93 for the Gamecocks. Green was a top 50 recruit at DT coming out of the class of 2011–no, that’s not a misprint. Here’s his career in a nutshell: redshirt in 2011, medical redshirt in 2012, third-year freshman in 2013. So far injuries have prevented us from seeing what Green is capable of and that’s unfortunate. We’ll see what 2014 holds for the Florida native.
Gamecocks football in 1993
1993 was Sparky Woods’ last season at the helm of the Gamecocks. After bouncing around as an assistant with the Jets and various other college programs, the former App State coach is back in FCS coaching VMI.
