A pitcher’s duel ended with another South Carolina Gamecocks walk off victory.

Max Schrock reached third to lead off the 9th, and Joey Pankake brought him home to give the Gamecocks a 2-1 Mother’s Day win and a three-game weekend sweep of the Missouri Tigers (20-30, 6-21 SEC).

There was nothing doing through the first three innings as the Gamecocks’ Wil Crowe and the Tigers’ Keaton Steele allowed a hit each, but Crowe would blink first as Dylan Kelly’s third homer of the year made it 1-0. Carolina got it back in the bottom of the fifth as Patrick Harrington brought Tanner English in from 2nd on a ball that just got through the infield.

Crowe was on target for virtually the entire game, allowing just the one run on the Kelly homer but surrendering just four hits, striking out four while walking a single batter–but would be charged with a no decision as his winless streak extended to six starts.

Then came the ninth.

Schrock led off by driving one to center and got to third on an error on Jake Ring. After Kyle Martin and Grayson Greiner were intentionally walked, Pankake stepped up and dunked one into center to set off the celebration for South Carolina (39-13, 16-11) and make a hard-luck loser out of Steele, who was flat-out unstoppable over the first eight innings.

The Gamecocks are back at it as they welcome The Citadel on Tuesday night. First pitch is at 7pm from Carolina Stadium.
