The Cleveland Browns look like they will have another rookie SEC quarterback on their squad, as the South Carolina Gamecocks’ Connor Shaw will sign with the team as an undrafted free agent. The news was rumored and then confirmed by Shaw himself.

The Browns, of course, drafted Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel with the 22nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. As time went on, Shaw was thought to be a late round pick at worst, but he remained on the board. He now has an NFL team to call home.

Cleveland ended the 2013 season with Brian Hoyer, Tyler Thigpen, Vince Young and practice squad player Alex Tanney at quarterback as they started Jason Campbell (now with the Cincinnati Bengals), Brandon Weeden (currently with the Dallas Cowboys), and Hoyer throughout the season, with Hoyer as the lone holdover. Manziel’s presence automatically makes it an interesting quarterback battle up north, but we’ll have to wait and see how Shaw works into the mix as he heads up to start his journey as an NFL signal caller.
