After months of speculation and rumors, on Thursday night the Houston Texans finally made it official, as they selected Jadeveon Clowney from the University of South Carolina with the first overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft at Radio City Music Hall.
Since the season ended, it seemed as if every day, sports radio and TV talk show hosts, and certainly Twitter, were filled with everyone’s thoughts about whether Clowney should be, or would be, selected number one overall in the draft. In the final days, there were rumors about Houston possibly trading their pick, or even selecting Khalil Mack from Buffalo instead. Just as there were a lot of comments before the draft, now that it’s been made official, Twitter has been filled with reactions to tonight’s pick.
Let’s take a look at what some fans (and current and former NFL players) had to say about the selection after it happened.

Have fun Andrew Luck.
Houston's forecast: Mostly Clowney with a 100% chance of pain. Merica.

Clowney and JJ Watt on opposite sides means a tiny pocket for opposing QBs. Houston's back 7 will benefit massively.

I am a little glad the 49ers don’t have to face Clowney and Watt in 2014.
