While Steve Spurrier and the South Carolina Gamecocks football team gave head women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley the honor of being the “off the bench” celebrity to haul in a touchdown catch during their spring game a few weeks back, the Arkansas Razorbacks gave one of their most devoted fans a day to remember at theirs.
Canaan Sandy, 31 years old, has Down syndrome and has been a Razorbacks fan since the age of two months. He was voted to ESPN’s inaugural Fan Hall of Fame last year for his devotion to his favorite team. Today, during the annual Red-White game, with the Red team up 48-22, Bret Bielema decided to let Canaan in on the action.
Props to Bielema for giving “CJ” the opportunity to have a dream come true. As the announcer said on the video, it will be a moment Canaan will remember “for the rest of his life”.
