Gamecocks fans, the wait is officially over.  The massive 6-foot-5, 315 DT Abu Lamin has officially pleged to play football for the South Carolina Gamecocks.  Early Monday morning the 4-star JUCO standout made his decision official.  Lamin is now the twelfth commitment the Gamecocks have secured for the 2014 recruiting class.

When Lamin was asked about his decision, there was no doubt that the coaching staff at South Carolina had done their job.  ” I had a great connection with Coach Adams and Coach Ward.  I talked with Coach Adams almost every day,” said Lamin.  However, the defensive coaches were not the only persons of imnpact in Lamin’s decision.  Coach Spurrier showed Lamin that the Gamecocks were in heavy pursuit.  ” I talked with Coach Spurrier, he emphasized how much they need and want me.  It’s just been things like that, they haven’t stopped coming after me,” Lamin noted.

At an astonishing 315 pounds, Lamin will provide the Gamecocks with size and a great skill set to continue the Gamecock’s recent legacy of dominiant defensive linemen.  Lamin was not shy in discussing his skills, giving reason for Gamecock nation to be excited about his commitment.

” I’m confident in my skills.  I’m a great pass-rushing defensive tackle.  Many 300-pounders don’t get the recognition of being a pash rusher.  I love to definitely hit running backs.  That’s the most fun thing for me besides hitting the quarterback is hitting the running back.  I love shooting gaps and embarrassing o-linemen.  I like to wreck stuff,” said Lamin.

With Lamin’s skill set and attitude toward opposing offensive lines, Gamecock fans should start getting excited now.  This kid is big and his impact on the face of Gamecock football could be even bigger.

Lamin was regarded as one of the top JUCO (Junior College) prospects in the nation.  Lamin chose South Carolina over Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Nebraska, Tennessee, Auburn and several others.
