It’s December 25th and that means three things: FOOD PRESENTS AND PARTIES!
Actually, the things Christmas should mean are family, friends, and, well, parties.
The South Carolina Gamecocks gave plenty of presents to their fans this year, from signing Frank Martin to coach the men’s basketball team to a fourth straight win over Clemson in football.
The women’s basketball team trip to the Sweet 16 and the baseball team’s third straight trip to the final series of the College World Series were presents that left a bitter taste in Carolina fans’ mouths.
The lumps of coal that were the men’s basketball team’s performance in SEC play last season, a brutal football schedule, and another loss to Elon in bball were hard to swallow, but there are better things ahead:
The SEC gave South Carolina an early Christmas present by leaving Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M off the team’s football schedule next season, and finally giving Georgia a tough opponent from the West next year.
We all hope the Gamecocks can start the New Year off with another present; A victory over the Michigan Wolverines. Michigan has already gifted Carolina a better chance at winning by suspending a starting cornerback, punter and reserve player, but this is college football, and nothing is given to any team, especially during bowl season.
