The South Carolina Gamecocks finally played a game where they looked like the dominant team on the floor Friday night. They defeated the Jacksonville Dolphins 91-74, but the game wasn’t even that close.

So, at 6-3 on the year so far with losses to Elon, St. Johns and Clemson, what would a good season be for Frank Martin and his Gamecocks? Can it be defined by a final record? Player development? Execution?

Maybe all three.

The Gamecocks went 10-21 and 2-14 in SEC play last year. This year, if they can finish anywhere above .500, It’d be a great year for them. A good year would see them finish at or just under .500, with players who got better as the year went on. Also, as long as South Carolina’s offensive and defensive numbers get better as the year goes on, I think the season will be a success.

The player development aspect of all this has already begun; Brenton Williams has become a go-to type of player for the Gamecocks, whereas last year he more-or-less an afterthought. Also, Brian Richardson, who’s numbers actually got cut in half from his freshman to sophomore year, is starting to come on strong and is averaging career highs in points, assists, rebounds, free-throw, and shooting percentage.

So what do you think a good season for these South Carolina Gamecocks would look like? Let us know in our new poll, and in the comments.
