A basketball team at the University of South Carolina has done nothing but win since last year

Frank Martin may have people buzzing about the men’s basketball program at the University of South Carolina, but Dawn Staley has people’s jaws dropping, because of what she’s done with the women’s program.
Her team went 23-9 last year and made it to the Sweet 16 before being ousted by No. 1 Stanford.
The Lady Gamecocks got huge wins over Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina last year, and had a winning streak reach as many as eight games. They finished 10-6 in the SEC, then blew out Eastern Michigan and stomped Purdue before that loss to Stanford.
This year the team might be better.
Carolina is off to a 7-0 start which includes a big win over Clemson. Four players are averaging more than nine points per game, despite the fact that only one Gamecock plays more than 27 minutes a game.
Ashley Bruner is shooting 55 percent from the floor and leads the team in scoring with 12.4 points per game.
Aleighsa Welch leads the team in rebounding with 9.6 boards per game, and if she gets that average up just .4 points, she’ll be averaging a double-double, because she also scores over 11 points a game.
But scoring and rebounding aren’t the only places this team wins games.
Carolina has held its opponents to less than 34 percent shooting from the field and an average of just 45.4 points per game.
They’ve got a game home game tonight against Drexel, a 4-1 team from the CAA.
If you need a reason to head out to the game other than the fact that you’d be supporting South Carolina Athletes, hotdogs are going to be sold for just one dollar all game.
