There are a lot of rumors and flat out lies floating around the Twitterverse and Blogosphere about the injury Marcus Lattimore suffered against Tennessee, even though USC has already released an official statement about it.
Here, for you’re personal knowledge, and so you can call into shows like Mike and Mike in the Morning (which reported the early assumption that his knee was dislocated) and set them straight, is the first paragraph of South Carolina’s official release about Lattimore’s knee injury.
“University of South Carolina junior running back Marcus Lattimore suffered a significant impact to the front of his right knee during the Tennessee game on Saturday. The ensuing hyperextension of the knee resulted in injury to several ligaments. There were no fractures or additional injuries, according to team physician Dr. Jeffrey Guy. Lattimore’s surgically repaired left knee was uninjured during the play”
Is that good? No.
Is it better than what was being reported immediately after he went down? Yes.
Guy, the team physician, said Lattimore will most likely need an entire year off to get back to full strength, and Steve Spurrier has indicated that while he and Lattimore haven’t discussed it, Lattimore will most likely play football again.
