South Carolina has now played 15 SEC games since the start of last season.
Opposing SEC offenses have been called for just one holding penalty against the Gamecocks in that span. Overall, SEC teams have been called for just three holding penalties against South Carolina since the start of last year.
In that same 15 game time-period, the Gamecocks have been called for 12 holding penalties. More than half of them have come on offensive plays for South Carolina.
The Gamecocks were called for two holding penalties against Tennessee Saturday afternoon. The Vols weren’t called for a single one.
Last week in The Swamp, Carolina and Florida both went the entire game without grabbing jerseys.
Despite Tennessee’s perfect form on the line, Jadeveon Clowney was able to break through it, crush Tyler Bray, and force a fumble that ended the game. Carolina also had two tackles for loss against that impeccable, apparently-opposable-thumbless offensive line.
For some reason Garnet and Cocky is the only website tracking this egregious disparity, and we’ll continue to track it until we physically cannot.
If there’s one thing we can all predict when SC takes on Arkansas in two weeks, its that a hold will not be called against the Razor Backs.
Expect another rant after that game.
Peace.
