The Worst Kind Of Win. Gamecocks scrape by Tennessee

It was a win, but it sure didn’t feel like one for the South Carolina Gamecocks.

The student section was only 3/4 full for most of the game, the Gamecocks defense couldn’t find its way out of a paper bag, and, oh yeah, one of the greatest overall people in college football suffered his second season ending injury in as many years.

If you haven’t seen the injury Marcus Lattimore suffered after gaining 65 yards against UT, don’t watch it. It’s gross.

Sure Jadeveon Clowney had one of the most clutch defensive plays in the recent history of college football to end the game, sure Bruce Ellington and Justice Cunningham had great days catching the ball, and sure South Carolina just beat Tennessee for the third straight time (for the first time ever), but it didn’t feel like a win.

When Lattimore went down and every player from both teams crowded around him to pray, the air left the stadium like I’ve never seen.

Fans just didn’t want to be happy after that, and who can blame them.

Forget Lattimore the football player.

Lattimore is a great person.

If your immediate thought after he went down was “Hey we have Marcus for another year!” like a student infront of me, you should be ashamed of yourself.

The Gamecocks might not be playing for a national or SEC title anymore, but they have something bigger to play for now.

Marcus Lattimore.

Our thoughts are with you.
