More upsets mean more shakeups in Garnet and Cocky’s top 25 poll (have I ever mentioned that we were the first site I saw to put Oregon State in the top 25?)
25. North Western Someone has to win the Big 10, right? RIGHT?
24. Boise State They’re not the Broncos of old, but they’re still pretty good.
23. Michigan I really don’t think they deserve to be in the top 25, but it’s hard to find many teams I think are better than them this far down the poll.
22. Texas Tech No one thought West Virginia’s offense would be stopped. Especially by Texas Tech. It was. Long live the Red Raiders.
21. Stanford A loss to top 10 Notre Dame team doesn’t really hurt Stanford anywhere except in the polls.
20. Cincinnati The Bearcats crushed a bad Fordham team. Awe who the hell am I kidding. I don’t know if Fordham is good or bad. I just know there’s no way Cincinnati shouldn’t crush them.
19. Ohio The Bobcats. Undefeated. Still. They really don’t play anyone, though, so they could be undefeated at the end of the season playing in a crappy bowl.
18. Florida State They crushed Boston College. They should’ve crushed NC State.
17. Texas A&M An early blowout turned into a late shootout as the Aggies staved off Louisiana Tech 59-57. These guys look really good right now.
16. Mississippi State The Bulldogs keep climbing, but their ascension could be halted in two weeks when they finally face a top 25 team.
15. Rutgers Quietly, the Scarlet Knights are undefeated and poised to make a run at the Big East Title.
14. Louisville The Cardinals have won most of their games this year on the defensive side of the ball. Against Pitt, though, they went the offensive route, scorign 45 points.
13. Georgia More than any team in the nation, the Dawgs really needed a bye week. They’ll get another one when they take on Kentucky next weekend.
12. Clemson A bye week posed as the second toughest opponent of the season so far for the Tigers. I love Clemson humor!
11. Southern California The Trojans didn’t look like the greatest team in the world at Washington, but they didn’t have to. If this team keeps winning, they’ll be in the national title conversation to end the year.
10. Oklahoma They looked like a team on a mission against Texas. Slowly, Oklahoma is shaking off an early loss to become a national title contender.
9. South Carolina Their first loss of the season couldn’t have come at a better time: Middle of the season, on the road, against a top 10 opponent. Much like LSU after their loss to Florida two weeks ago, South Carolina could get right back in the title hunt with a win against a top three opponent next weekend.
8. Ohio State It’s too bad the best team in the Big 10 can’t, you know, play for the Big 10 Championship.
7. Oregon State Damn this team is good, right? I mean no one thought they’d be good this year, and no one had them in the top 25 after their week one upset of Wisconsin (except Garnet and Cocky).
6. Notre Dame This Fighting Irish team is impressive. They did what they had to against Stanford to get the W. In two weeks they’ll get another test; against Oklahoma.
5. Kansas State They survived the upset bug against Iowa State. Next week could be a crazy game as they take on the exposed Mountaineers in West Virginia.
4. LSU The Tigers got their season back on track after beating the Gamecocks in Death Valley Saturday night.
3. Florida They played a shaky game against Vanderbilt, but came out on top. Who would’ve thought these Gators would be this high in the top 25 this late in the season? Next weeks battle with South Carolina could determine who makes it to Atlanta out of the East this year.
2. Oregon After a bye Saturday, the Ducks will stay put at No. 2. They have two straight games against easy opponents before their clash with Southern Cal.
1. Alabama There might not be a team in the nation that can slow down the Tide. They rolled Mizzou, and get Tennessee next weekend.
