After loss to LSU, even the Gamecocks biggest goals are still on table.

Does it sting? Yes.

Would it have been nice to break LSU’s 20+ game home winning streak? Totally.

Does losing to LSU on the road mean the Gamecocks have nothing to play for? Absolutely not.

Should South Carolina lose to Florida next week, though, even a 10 win regular season would leave a sour taste in fans mouths.

Before I get further into that, LSU broke a ton of South Carolina trends last night and they have to be addressed.

First, they (along with some questionable play calling) contained Marcus Lattimore.

Next, they destroyed our run defense.

Finally, their banged up offensive line pretty much contained our front seven (although at times it looked like defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward was afraid to blitz).

None of my predictions from yesterday morning held true.

Not much of anyone’s predictions held true.

The Gamecocks will be questioned all week leading up to their next game, and that’s fine. LSU was “done” until they beat SC. Carolina will be “done” until they beat Florida next weekend.

If they don’t, they should still win 10 games, but all that will get them is probably third place in the east and a trip to the Cotton or Outback Bowl.
