D.J. Swearinger Suspended, but Andre Hal wasn’t for his hit on Cunningham in Game 1

After a heated debate, I’ve come to the conclusion that the SEC made the right call suspending D.J. Swearinger for this hit on a poor, poor UAB receiver.

But, I’ve also come to the conclusion that the SEC has some serious consistency issues when it comes to things like this.

Remember Justice Cunningham getting killed (and still making the catch. Beast) against Vanderbilt? Andre Hal wasn’t suspended after this hit.

If the SEC really is worried about player safety and if it really does want to limit these types of hits, the league office has to be more consistent when dealing out punishments for them.
