Two weeks into college football season and South Carolina fans have already gone from depressed to fanatic. After a 17-13 win over Vandy that left fans wondering whether or not Carolina would have a passing game, the Cocks destroyed ECU 48-10 on the arm of Dylan Thompson.

Shaw surprisingly (to us. He practiced Wednesday and Thursday and looked good according to his teammates) didn’t play, but that didn’t hamper SC’s offense.

Rory Anderson, SC’s tall, lanky pass catching tight end caught four passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns, Bruce Ellington made four catches for 63 yards and D.L. Moore finally went beyond the promise coaches see in practice and caught two touchdown passes. All in all, 11 players caught passes for the Gamecocks.

On defense, the star of the show was Jimmy Legree. He played another solid game of shutdown defense and brought an interception back 34 yards for a touchdown (oddly enough, he did it right after appearing to force and recover a fumble only that was reviewed and overturned). Shaq Wilson made his second interception of the season, Brison Williams picked one off and D.J. Swearinger and also had a nice INT.

After Patrick Fish’s first punt left much to be desired, the coaches turned to Tyler Hull, who averaged 40 yards a punt on four attempts with a long of 51. Landon Ard kicked a few balls into the endzone on kickoffs, and SC’s coverage team did pretty well on the day.

It was a much needed blowout after a stressful week for Gamecock fans. No one should jump them in the polls this Monday.
