The Gamecocks women’s soccer team will play its first game of the season at Stone Stadium at 7pm, and they’ll player six more straight home games afterward.
“The Gamecocks are coming off a 0-1-1 opening weekend after drawing UW-Milwaukee in the season opener before dropping a 2-1 overtime game at Minnesota. Fans can park in the Athletics Village Parking Garage adjacent to Stone Stadium on Heyward Street. Season Tickets for the 2012 season are currently on sale.”
All the big news guys are saying Marcus Lattimore is 100 percent healthy and ready to get back to his tackle-breaking ways. He’s also saying that.
Something Lattimore won’t change? His straight-ahead, power running style. If that means 35 carries, Lattimore’s prepared physically and mentally to handle the load. ”I’m not thinking about it anymore. That’s the main thing, just not thinking about the injury,” he said. ”I’m just going out there trying to be myself as I did in the past.”
Finally, the initial thought around Columbia, after Ray Tanner became AD and Chad Holbrook SC’s head baseball coach, was that Holbrook would still handle the recruiting coordinator’s duties. That is no longer the case.
“Holbrook named Sam Esposito to fill the head coach’s old spot. Holbrook said when taking over head coaching spot in July that he planned to continue heading up the club’s recruiting efforts. However, Holbrook said Monday that Esposito can bring a relentless, nonstop approach to the task and give Holbrook the chance to handle other duties.”
