Gamecocks football and the Vegas odds

With football season right around the corner, Las Vegas bookmakers are getting  into full swing. The Gamecocks find themselves with more expectations from everyone this year, and Vegas is no exception.

Bovada.lv (via CBS Sports) released their over-under win totals and the Gamecocks come in at 8.5

The bookmakers got it right on this, I think; Eight wins seems low for Carolina, and I’ve already said it would be a dissapointing season if that’s all they managed to do. That said, It’s not entirely out of the realm of possiblity to predict USC at 8-4 when the season ends. They’ve got road games at LSU, Florida, Clemson and a home game against an Arkansas squad that has owned them over the past few years.

I haven’t released my prediction for the season, yet, but I will tell you I have them winning at least nine games.

LSU, 10 wins… Georgia, 9.5 wins… Florida, 8 wins… Arkansas, 8.5 wins… Alabama… 10.5 wins.

Clemson’s over/under was at 8.5 wins.
