The Pirates will come into town to play our South Carolina Gamecocks in Williams-Brice in 2016 and 2020 and the Pirates will host the Gamecocks in Greenville, N.C., at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in 2019 and 2021, according to the release.

FBSchedules.com gives the details on the guarantee check the visiting team will get for each game which you can see down below:

2016 – Columbia, SC ($850,000)
2019 – Greenville, NC ($250,000)
2020 – Columbia, SC ($300,000)
2021 – Greenville, NC ($300,000)

The latest game between the two was last season(2014), where South Carolina beat the Pirates 33-23. The Gamecocks lead the overall series 13-5, with the Gamecocks longest streak in the series at 8 game from 1977-1990. East Carolina’s longest streak in the series is 2, from 1991-1992. The Gamecocks largest margin of victory was 52-10 in 1985 and the Pirates largest victory against the Gamecocks was them winning 21-3 in 1999.

I do not see South Carolina’s domination in this series changing anytime soon during my life time with the Gamecocks dominating ECU with their overall talent that comes into each school each year. The only way I see this being a competitive series is if ECU were to move into a bigger conference, but with them being in the AAC this series looks like it will continue to be nothing more than a give-me game for the Gamecocks.
