Gamecocks vs. Texas A&M: Pregame Roundtable Predictions

The guys have their picks in for tomorrow’s game between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Texas A&M Aggies. It looks like there’s a unanimous choice across the board: Carolina will be 1-0 after Thursday. Let us know what you think: in the comment section below, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Sydney Hunte: Gamecocks 31, Aggies 17
The Aggies are a much different team without Johnny Football. I think they’ll do OK (not great) with him gone, but this year will begin with a loss in Columbia. They simply don’t have the same offensive firepower as last year (and don’t have Mike Davis, someone the Gamecocks do have) and are too young in the back to stick around with Carolina.

Chris Carey: Gamecocks 27, Aggies 7
I think Texas A&M’s defense will be a little better than last year, but that’s not saying much, and I think their offense will be nothing like the past two years. Combine that with the Gamecocks’ balanced offense and strong linebacker crew, and it will be a strong start to the SEC schedule for the Gamecocks.

Tradd Jones: Gamecocks 38, Aggies 24
Simply because of the dreadful A&M defense of last season. Sure, our offense lost Shaw and Ellington, but I believe we still have the pieces there to outscore A&M if need be and it came down to that. Although I don’t think it will come down to a shootout, I think A&M lost way too much on offense to compete in one.

Daniel Leitszey: Gamecocks 31, Aggies 21
South Carolina looks to extend the nation’s longest home winning streak vs Texas A&M. The Gamecocks are certainly the favorites to do so. Look for the USC offensive line to assert itself early with heavy doses of Mike Davis. The Aggies’ “D” will struggle in the trenches against a veteran Gamecock line. The South Carolina defense will be tested early against the high flying but young A&M offense, but if they can avoid careless turnovers and get solid play from the defense, it should win the game by ten-plus points.
