Any remaining fears of South Carolina Gamecocks running back Mike Davis and tight end Busta Anderson not being ready to go for Thursday’s matchup against the Texas A&M Aggies were dispelled on Tuesday night during Steve Spurrier’s weekly call-in radio show.
RB Mike Davis and TE Rory Anderson are “full speed,” Spurrier says on “Carolina Calls.”

Davis had been battling some injuries that held him out of several practices, first to his hamstring and then to his ribs. But those weren’t expected to keep him out of Thursday’s season opener. As for Anderson, his status shifted early on during spring practice. He had suffered a torn triceps that was initially judged by Spurrier to be more serious than it was–but as time went on, the chances of him being able to return in time for the start of the season increased when Spurrier reported that the senior would be healed up in “about a month”. Anderson sat out the entire spring to get back to health, and even though he’s been given the green light, his situation will be something the Gamecocks will be sure to monitor throughout the game and as the season progresses. Jerell Adams has been listed as Anderson’s backup at tight end.
