ICYMI: Hugh Freeze Lost To Steve Spurrier In Golf, Had To Get Buzz Cut

facebooktwitterreddit

Here’s a little bit of leftover news from SEC Media Days, which wrapped up in Hoover, Alabama last evening.

Ole Miss head football coach Hugh Freeze has been part of the coaching fraternity for years, starting with his position in 1992 as offensive coordinator/defensive backs coach at Briarcrest Christian High School in Memphis, Tennessee (the alma mater of Michael Oher of The Blind Side fame), stretching to today in Oxford.

So I’m sure he had to know not to make a bet with South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier on the golf course, the Ole Ball Coach’s place of comfort. Many have gone up against Spurrier, only to crumble in defeat.

Apparently a) he thought he had a fair shot against Spurrier, or b) he thought Spurrier’s golfing exploits were overrated.

We don’t need to tell you who came out on top.

Rookie mistake, Hugh.

By the way, this battle won’t carry on to the gridiron unless both teams win their respective division. The Gamecocks and Rebels will not meet in the regular season.
