Gamecocks football recruiting: Four-star DE Arden Key re-commits to South Carolina

Last June, Arden Key committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks before re-opening his recruitment in September, saying that he had “jumped the gun”.

Today, he pledged to the Garnet and Black once more.

Key, the four-star DE from Hapeville (Ga.) Charter, took to Twitter to announce his decision (again).

We’re not 100% what gave Key cold feet in the first place. But after measuring his options, he’s apparently found that South Carolina is the best place for him to attend college and play football.

Key is ranked by Rivals.com as the twelfth-best weak side defensive end in America and the 30th-ranked player in the state of Georgia overall. He is the 11th player to commit from the class of 2015–and the seventh four-star commit. Carolina currently checks in on Rivals.com’s recruiting rankings at number eight, behind Alabama (1), Auburn (4), Texas A&M (5), and LSU (7) as SEC teams in the top 10.

Here’s a highlight video from Key’s junior season at Hapeville Charter:
