South Carolina Gamecocks Football Countdown: 87 Days

Our countdown to the 2014 college football season continues as just 87 days separate us from kickoff between the South Carolina Gamecocks and Texas A&M Aggies at Williams-Brice Stadium on August 28.
Who Wears #87?
Sean Odom, a walk-on wide receiver who joined the team prior to spring practice, will wear #87 this season. Odom played high school ball at Orangeburg, where he set school records in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Gamecocks football in 1987
The Gamecocks went undefeated at home in 1987, a feat they would not accomplish again for 25 years. After starting the season 2-0, South Carolina suffered a pair of crushing road losses against top-25 opponents Georgia and Nebraska. The Gamecocks then reeled off six consecutive victories, including a win over 8th-ranked Clemson. The game against the Tigers featured the highest combined rankings ever between the rivals. South Carolina advanced to the Gator Bowl, but lost 30-13 to LSU.
