Our countdown to the 2014 college football season continues as just 97 days separate us from kickoff between the South Carolina Gamecocks and Texas A&M Aggies at Williams-Brice Stadium on August 28.
Who Wears #97?
J.T. Surratt dons jersey #97 for the Gamecocks. The redshirt senior defensive tackle from Winston-Salem (NC) Parkland recorded 33 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 2013. But most importantly, he’s the only returning starter on the D-line and will be looked upon to lead what’s set to be a not-as-experienced but essential group going into the 2014 season.
Gamecocks football in 1997
1997 wasn’t a highlight in Gamecocks football history, but considering the team would go a combined 1-22 over the next two years, they may as well have won a national championship that season.
