We are 101 days away from the 2014 college football season, but preseason award watch lists are already hitting the wires.

South Carolina Gamecocks offensive lineman Cody Waldrop is one of 64 players on the spring watch list for the Rimington Award, which is given annually to the premier center in the country.

There are 125 FBS football teams, meaning that almost exactly half of the starting centers in college football are on the list.

Waldrop, a redshirt sophomore from Seffner, Fla., made six starts last season and missed seven games with nagging injuries to his right foot and ankle. He is expected to be South Carolina’s starter at either center or right guard this season.

Waldrop is one of 11 SEC centers to make the spring watch list for the Rimington Award. The Gamecocks last had a center on the list when T.J. Johnson was named to the spring watch list prior to the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

The award was given to Florida State’s Bryan Stork last season.
