Jadeveon Clowney is officially a member of the Houston Texans. And his walkout song, “The Man” (by Aloe Blacc), couldn’t be more appropriate on this night.

The Texans picked the South Carolina Gamecocks defensive end with the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, joining George Rogers as the only Gamecock football player to go off the board first.

With Matt Schaub over at Oakland and Case Keenum not thought to be a viable starter in the NFL, the Texans were thought to be in the market for a quarterback, or even trading down to fill a position of need. However, when it was all said and done, they decided to make a push for Ryan Mallett and drafted what they think is a franchise-changing player in Clowney, one that they can build their team around and establish a solid defense with.

Stick with Garnet and Cocky as we’ll cover this from all angles. We’ll provide the latest reaction from the Twitterverse, as well as various bloggers and writers from Houston and elsewhere. For now, we won’t know how exactly he’ll pan out (as is the case with any draft prospect), but Clowney’s NFL journey will begin in the Lone Star State.
