Mike Davis made an immediate splash in the minds of Gamecocks fans, when he commited to South Carolina.  His brother, James, was a fan favorite at rival Clemson.  Mike decided that the University of South Carolina was the place he needed to call home.

Fast forward one year, and the focus is back on Davis.  Davis saw limited action during his freshman season tallying 52 carries for 275 yards and a pair of touchdowns.  However, after the departure of Marcus Lattimore and an incredibly strong spring performance, Davis looks to be the leader of the Gamecock’s rushing attack in 2013.

For those who were fortunate enough to be in person for the Garnet and Black spring game, or watch it on television, Mike Davis showed that he is more than capable of picking up where Marcus Lattimore left off.  Davis was explosive in the spring game and without a doubt the most impressive man on the field.  Davis used his impecable vision to run between the tackles, and explode through the seams created by the Gamecock offensive line.

While Davis will most likely split carries with Brandon Wilds, he will more than likely become the starter for the majority of the season.  The Gamecocks look to the run game as a foundation for their success in 2013, much like they have done the previous three seasons, and Mike Davis will lead the charge.
