South Carolina Will Not Wear Chrome Lids in 2013

Thursday, a photo of a chrome helmet was tweeted by the University of South Carolina equipment staff.  Not long after, rumors and internet chatter began to buzz about the new possible helmet for the Gamecock football team.  However, the tweet was nothing short of a tease.

Saturday, a tweet was released by the equipment department again.  This time, setting the record straight and sharing that the Gamecocks would not be changing or wearing an alternate helmet this season.  The second tweet said, “FYI we will be wearing our traditional white helmet this year! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.”

The thoughts of the new or alternate helmet were fun while it lasted, if only for two days.  The Gamecocks will be suiting up in garnet and black while remaining true to tradition with the white helmet again in 2013.
