Four-Ever To Thee: South Carolina Gamecocks Smack Clemson For A Fourth Straight Year

facebooktwitterreddit

No box scores. No stat lines. Just a story from the fourth straight victory the South Carolina Gamecocks got over the Clemson Tigers.

Steve Spurrier might say this game doesn’t mean as much as it did when he first got here.

He might act like this isn’t the most important game of the year.

He might even really believe all that to be true.

We know better.

We know that this is the only game every year.

The only one.

A win over Clemson would make 0-11 irrelevant.

This year, at least for me, the win over Clemson made those two straight October losses disappear.

As dejected as I was after those two weeks, I’m that happy now, maybe more.

Most of you are too.

I can tell from the tweets and the Facebook posts.

Jadeveon Clowney had one hell of a game, and said afterwards “we ain’t losing while I’m here.”

Dylan Thompson had an equally impressive game (but didn’t say anything like that).

After a weird first half, Steve Spurrier and Lorenzo Ward called one hell of a game.

I’m one of only a few thousand people, and my senior class is one of the only four-year-groups at Carolina that can say they never knew what it was like to lose to Clemson while they were in college.

It’s one hell of a feeling.
